Welcome to 2025!
Hamble Conservation Volunteers
Last year was particularly busy and productive and we have great expectations for 2025. Our programme of tasks for the year is now live on the website so please take a look and join us whenever you can. Given that many of our tasks are on Sites of Scientific Interest, which preclude the use of heavy mechanised plant, activities are generally person power intensive and volunteer numbers do make a significant difference. The number of volunteers was notably higher last year and long may this trend continue.
At the time of writing Cemex have appealed against the refusal of their application to take gravel from Hamble airfield so we must be on our guard against a further attempt to carry out industrial levels of digging and haulage movements in a peninsula with road access already over capacity and a single point of failure.
