Scrub Clearance Update
Hamble Conservation Volunteers
Eastleigh Borough Council have requested that we help them with Hamble Common Scrub clearance. Maintaining the very rare condition of the Common is important and this year we will have less time to do it so we would really appreciate a high turnout of volunteers. Of course Covid19 remains a real threat and the measures we will take will ensure that no volunteer is close to another volunteer during tasks and centrally held tools will be sanitised before and after use. We will be unable to provide refreshments so be prepared to bring your own. Volunteers will no longer be able to turn up without notifying Philip beforehand and they will have to provide reassurance that they do not have Covid 19 symtoms or have been in contact with someone known to be infected. On the positve side our tasks are all outside and the risk is thought to be very low. The recent scrub clearance on 18th December went extremely well and a large section of scrub was cleared to the south of the fire break track. However, in the light of the raising of Hampshire Covid status to Tier 4 tasks are on hold for now.
