HCV Tasks Update
Hamble Conservation Volunteers
We are very busy carrying out work for both Eastleigh Borough Council and Hamble Parish Council. Recent tasks have included clearing the foreshore dinghy park of rubbish and tree debris for the Parish Council and repairing the fences on Hamble Common prior to the arrival of the cattle. Future tasks include repairing the well used footpath which connects Hamble village to Hamble Point Marina. Eastleigh Borough Council have arranged for the delivery of 20 tons of gravel and our task is to wheelbarrow it into places where it is required. This is a demanding task and we would welcome additional volunteers! We are also needed to repeat last year's efforts to remove Ragwort from the grazing areas. Over time consumption of Ragwort gradually poisons cattle so this is an important task. Thanks to our efforts last year, the task will not be so formidable this time but again a good turnout of volunteers would be welcome.
Please note the change in order in the Task Calendar. Given the urgency to remove the Ragwort from the meadow, the task on Monday 20 June will be Ragwort removal and the start point will be the School Lane car park not the Pavilion car park.
